What it is: a 100% cotton denim apron with two long straps that come over the shoulders, cross behind you and thread through the fabric sleeves at either side. Nothing loops around your neck. Measures approximately 29.7 in. across by 32.7 in. long.

Tie it where you like

Knot the straps at the back to keep them clear, or bring them around and tie at the front if you would rather not reach behind you. Same apron either way, and the long straps take a range of builds. Two front pockets and a side loop for a dish towel.

Where it sits in the range

Roomier than our cotton twill aprons, trimmer than the slip-on denim. It reads relaxed rather than formal, which is why it turns up as much in studios, coffee bars and gardens as it does at a stove.

Why no two are identical

The cloth is 100% cotton denim put through a long wash cycle that softens the hand and pulls the color back to a lived-in blue. Every batch is washed separately, so shade and texture vary. Pocket interiors and the rolled hem sit darker, and the fine speckling across the front shifts between pieces. That is the wash, not a fault.

Care

Machine wash cold with like colors. Hang dry — cotton denim shrinks in a hot dryer.
