The 'Nocturne' Silk Scarf

Yes, this is 100% mulberry silk — 14 momme twill with hand-rolled edges. Broad diagonal bands of navy, sky blue and white cross the square. On the dark side a yellow flower is painted in loose wet strokes, the way a brush leaves it. On the pale side a rider is drawn in fine line, with a run of graphic lettering across the white panel.

• 14 MOMME MULBERRY SILK TWILL 100% mulberry silk, printed on the face. Twill has a fine diagonal grain and a matte depth of colour, with enough body to hold a knot instead of sliding out of one.

• COLOUR BANDS AND ONE BLOOM Diagonal fields of navy, sky and white, a brushed yellow flower on the dark side, a fine-line rider and printed lettering on the pale side.

• SIZE AND STYLING Measures approximately 34 x 34 in. Folded corner to corner it covers the shoulders; rolled thin it becomes a headband, a ponytail tie or a band around a bag strap.

• THE MOST GRAPHIC PIECE HERE The bands give it structure when it is folded small, and navy with one hit of yellow reads well against grey, white and black.

• THE EDGE Each of the four edges is rolled and stitched by hand, which is what gives the border its slight plumpness.

• CARE Hand wash cool with a mild detergent for silk, or dry clean. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry, cool iron on the reverse and lay flat in the shade.
