Yes, it is real silk: 100% mulberry silk in a 16 momme twill, printed on both faces and hemmed by hand. The square is divided into four panels of antique astronomical engraving — an armillary sphere on pale blue, brass instruments on oatmeal, a botanical branch on olive, and a star field on oxblood — so which panel shows depends entirely on how you fold it.
