Yes, this is 100% mulberry silk — 16 momme twill, printed on both faces. Two Hangzhou landscapes are folded into one square: red lotus at the upper left, wetland at the lower right, a band of green water joining them, persimmons lighting the picture in orange, and a pagoda at the centre so the eye always has somewhere to land.

• 16 MOMME MULBERRY SILK TWILL 100% mulberry silk, printed on both faces in two different colourways. Twill has a fine diagonal grain and a matte depth of colour, with enough body to hold a knot instead of sliding out of one.

• LOTUS, WETLAND AND PAGODA A landscape drawn in flat modern colour rather than ink — lotus, hills, cloud banks, persimmon and still water, with a pagoda at the centre.

• SIZE AND STYLING Measures approximately 34 x 34 in. Folded corner to corner it covers the shoulders; rolled thin it becomes a headband, a ponytail tie or a band around a bag strap.

• TWO COLOURWAYS IN ONE SCARF One face reads blue green and jade, the reverse blush pink and coral. Same drawing, two moods, so it works over a white shirt in the morning and something warmer at night.

• THE EDGE Each of the four edges is rolled and stitched by hand, which is what gives the border its slight plumpness.

• CARE Hand wash cool with a mild detergent for silk, or dry clean. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry, cool iron on the reverse and lay flat in the shade.
